What does a Chiropractic Patient Advocate do?
Sign up as a Chiropractic Patient Advocate to receive updates on legislation that impacts the chiropractic profession and directions on how you can help.
Why should I sign up as a Chiropractic Advocate?
Help Injured Workers Obtain Medically Necessary Care – In an attempt to reduce medical costs, the California Legislature passed a bill last year to limit chiropractic treatment under workers’ compensation to 24 visits, without regard to whether the injured worker needs additional treatment. We have heard from thousands of patients who feel this arbitrary cap will prevent injured workers from receiving the care they need. Sign up as a Chiropractic Patient Advocate and help lead the fight against this new law.
Make Sure Health Care Providers are Adequately Trained – There are three bills in the state Legislature right now that will allow various health care providers to expand what they can do without additional training. SB 77 (Burton) will allow physical therapists to perform chiropractic adjustments and to treat patients without checking for serious conditions such as AIDS or cancer. AB 614 (Lowenthal) and AB 1388 (Kehoe) will license athletic trainers and massage therapists, respectively, to treat injuries without adequate training. Sign up as a Chiropractic Patient Advocate and make sure health care providers in California are appropriately educated before they treat serious conditions.
How will my information be used?
