What
Can Doctors Do to Help?
Donate
to the CCA Political Action Committee (CCPAC) and the new Californians
to Protect Chiropractic Patient Rights Political Action Committee!
The purpose of the
bipartisan CCPAC is to help elect state legislators who are pro-chiropractic.
The Californians to Protect Chiropractic Patient Rights Committee
provides financial support to pro-chiropractic propositions, specific
legislation, and other non-candidate related issues. When you combine
your resources with other local doctors of chiropractic through
the CCPAC and/or the Californians to Protect Chiropractic Patient
Rights Committee, you become part of a high-powered statewide effort
to elect candidates and promote policymaking that supports the profession
of chiropractic. Remember, no contribution is too small!

CCA's
expert legal counsel is a vital force in protecting the profession
of chiropractic. CCA
utilizes its legal counsel in a variety of ways – to address questionable
regulatory changes, review the legalities of pending legislation
and to
provide counsel regarding problematic issues that impact CCA's membership
such as unfair billing practices to the implementation of the new
laws related to workers' compensation. CCA's
attorney takes on a wide range of issues that individual doctors
of chiropractic cannot fight on their own. Remember, when you combine
your resources with other doctors of chiropractic, you become part
of a high-powered statewide effort.

Legislative Conference has been an annual event at CCA for the last
fifteen years. The conference is an opportunity for doctors of chiropractic,
chiropractic assistants, and students of chiropractic to become
informed regarding grassroots lobbying and the key legislative issues
that effect the profession. It is also an opportunity for
attendees to meet their legislators and to represent the chiropractic
profession. The next CCA Legislative Conference will be held in

Become
a Legislative Key Doctor!
If you
are a doctor of chiropractic member of CCA, become a Key Doctor.
The Key Doctor Program is a central component of the CCA Governmental
Affairs Department. This grassroots program is designed to educate
the legislature about the profession and scope of doctors of chiropractic;
establish and maintain positive relationships with legislators;
and provide information to the Governmental Affairs Department and
CCA District presidents regarding legislative concerns.
The Key
Doctor acts as a contact liaison between his or her assigned legislator/s
and the CCA Governmental Affairs Department and his or her local
CCA district president. CCA Governmental Affairs Department
will provide all Key Doctors a grassroots training manual that will
assist Key Doctors in effective grassroots lobbying techniques.
Key Doctors are appointed
by the Key Doctor Program Committee Chairperson in conjunction with
the Governmental Affairs Committee Chairperson. The goal of the
Key Doctor Program is to have at least one doctor of chiropractic
assigned to each legislator.
If you are interested in becoming
a Key Doctor or know of a doctor in your district that has a relationship
with a legislator who would be like to become a Key Doctor, contact
Michelle at (916) 648-2727, x136 or mbancroft@calchiro.org.
