2006 Legislative Summary

The California Legislature closed the second half of the 2005-06 Legislative Session by sending Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger nearly 1,200 measures, 262 of which were ultimately vetoed. Included were numerous pieces of legislation that will or would have had a direct or indirect impact on the chiropractic profession and its patients.

CCA sponsored or actively supported many bills and was active in opposing many bills that would have permitted others to encroach on a doctor of chiropractic's scope of practice. Below is a summary of the some of the major bills sent to the governor. Unless otherwise indicated, all of the measures were signed by the governor and take effect January 1, 2007.
