EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2008-2009
The CCA Executive Committee is comprised of five officers elected by the membership and the immediate past president. The duties of the executive committee are to administer and implement the directives of the board of directors; receive and make recommendations to the board on matters referred to it, as well as on its own initiative; prepare for board approval annual budgets; and serve as the first appeals body as set forth in the CCA Code of Ethics Administrative Procedures.

Dr. David Benevento was introduced to chiropractic after suffering a low back injury while playing basketball. He graduated cum laude from LACC in 1981. Prior to his current position as CCA vice president of internal affairs, he served as department chair for the CCA Member Services and CCA Conventions & Seminars departments, along with deputy chair of CCA inance Department. Active at the local level, Dr. Benevento was president of the CCA Sacramento Valley District for three years, in addition to serving as district treasurer for three years. An involved citizen in his local community, he was a City of Folsom library commissioner for seven years and currently serves on the Folsom Parks and Recreation Commission.

Dr. Kenneth Winer earned a bachelors degree from the University of California , Santa Barbara and his D.C. degree from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Upon graduation from Chiropractic College in 1986, Dr. Winer began his practice in Canoga Park where he has successfully practiced for the past 21 years. He is past President of the San Fernando Valley Chiropractic District and has served in many other capacities for that district. On the state level, he has served as Insurance Relations Department Chair and has served on numerous committees.

Maia decided she wanted to be a doctor at the age of three when she taught herself the names of bones from a book. She graduated from Palmer West in 2001, has a BS in liberal Arts, is a QME and just finished the CCSP training; Maia constantly strives to improve herself as much as the world around her. She has served as President of the San Francisco District 2004-2006, Secretary-Treasurer 2001-2003 She was named the Outstanding New DC of the Year 2005. She has also served in various capacities in Professional Business Organization and volunteering in her local community.

Vernon Englund , DC , QME, lives and practices in Oroville , California . Dr. Englund graduated from LACC in 1969. He served as Clinic Director for LACC from 1976 to 1978. He has practiced for the last 30+ years in Northern California . In practice with three associate doctors, he find the time to be active in CCA as the Director of Butte District for the past two terms. A past president of Alameda , Contra Costa and Butte Districts as well as serving on various other committees, Dr. Englund has been involved in Disaster Relief work with the Red Cross and Nazarene Disaster Response.

Dr. Bob Chatfield, a 1982 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic-West, practices in Santa Clara County. His passion for chiropractic began with his first adjustment in 1972, and his miraculous recovery from a surfing accident. A former All American swimmer and water polo player, presently an avid surfer, runner and snowboarder, he advocates health, function, vitality and the chiropractic adjustment and lifestyle. He and Barbara, his wife of 28 years, have four children. He has been a CCA member since 1983 a leader in the Santa Clara District for the last five years and is the current CCA PAC Chair.

Bill Updyke graduated in 1985 from Cleveland Chiropractic College in L.A. and practiced for 10 years in the San Fernando Valley (SFV). In 1996 he began working as an Assistant and then Associate Clinical Professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. He served as Director of Governmental Affairs for CCA since 2002, and has served as president of both the SFV and San Francisco districts and was Doctor of the Year for CCA from 1995-96. He has published over 30 articles in professional and peer reviewed journals and has provided testimony in Senate and Assembly committees to advance CCA's goals.
